This page will provide you with important information about our classroom.
Snack
We will have snack time around 10:30 am every day. Students may bring their own snacks to school. Ann Arbor Public Schools encourages students to develop healthy eating habits. Thus, we encourage students to have healthy snacks, such as fruits, vegetables, or crackers. This year, we have students with nut allergies so please do not send anything with nuts.
This year, we may have nut allergies in the classroom, so please do not send in anything with nuts for at least the first eight weeks of school. I appreciate your help with snack since it is very important at the beginning of the school year. It helps the students get through the long school days!

Birthdays/Celebrations
During the school year, we will have many events to celebrate! We want to celebrate your child in a healthy and encouraging way! Our school policy states that students and may bring healthy snacks, token prizes (such as pencils or erasers), donate a book or game to the classroom, or receive an extra 5 minutes of recess in his or her honor. Family members are always welcome celebrate with us in the classroom for these special events. We celebrate all birthdays in the afternoon.
Folders
Your child has a yellow folder that they will bring home every day. One side is for homework or papers to return to school; the other side is for notes home from the our school, district, or myself. Please make sure to check and return your child's folder every day as it contains important information.
Homework
Occasionally, your child will have math homework that requires them to practice what we've learned in class. Your child will need your support to complete these assignments. Please check your child's folder every day for these math homework assignments.
I strongly recommend that your child practices identifying letters and numbers and review their letter sounds 4-5 times a week. Students need a strong knowledge of letter sounds in order to become strong readers and writers.
Book Orders Every month, Scholastic book orders will be sent home . This is a great and inexpensive way to build your home library! Every book order earns points towards new books for our classroom. Take advantage of these great deals on some wonderful books!
I encourage you to shop for books using the NEW online Book Clubs Web Site. The site gives you a much wider selection of books than in the printed flyer. You can pay for your order online and send it to me online. Plus, you can place online orders any time so you do not need to wait for the flyers to come home. You can also use this site to order books for your other children as well!
